It has been a pleasure representing the North Metro Community Care Alliance as Chair, and previously Vice-Chair, during its initial development and rapid growth stages. Our Alliance is now recognised as a leader in collaborative partnering, and is frequently referenced as a good practice model for regional alliances across Victoria. Beginning with just 22 like-minded organisations committed to establishing a key coordinating point and issues management pathway in response to the aged care and disability reforms, we have now grown to seventy members in just two years, welcoming many diversity specific, not for profit and smaller organisations to our network.
The importance of The Alliance as a support and voice for North Metro providers and other stakeholders is clear. Our forums and events are well attended with speakers and guests driven by the needs of our members. Our recent Provider EXPO held in May was a resounding success, resulting in many new collaborative partnerships and increased communication and networking between providers and regional assessment teams. We have established several new Communities of Practice, including the much anticipated My Aged Care Users Group working to support good practice and smooth referral pathways within the My Aged Care system. In addition, we have expanded our reach with a well-resourced website and increased social media profile on YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn, making it easier for our members to remain informed and connected.
These accomplishments have been achieved in part through the hard work, dedication and support of our current and past Governance Group members, and I extend my appreciation and gratitude to the time and effort put in to support the establishment and success of The Alliance, in particular that of Sam Sharp, our inaugural Chair. Being part of this important partnership at the strategic level has been rewarding both personally and professionally at this significant time of reform and change.
I strongly encourage each member organisation to consider nominating for a position on the Governance Group as we enter Phase 2 of the Victorian Sector Development and Change Management Framework towards 2020.
