Sam Sharp resigns as Chair

It is with a mix of congratulations and commiserations that we advise of Sam Sharp's resignation from Moreland City Council as Manager, Aged and Community Services and subsequent relinquishment of the position of North Metro Community Care Alliance Chair.

Sam has played an integral part in the development of The Alliance as inaugural Chair since May 2017.  Sam has brought both enthusiasm and determination to the position during an at times uncertain and challenging formation stage.  On behalf of The Alliance, we thank Sam for the commitment and leadership offered at this important time in the establishment of The Alliance, and we wish Sam all the best in the new role of Director of Commissioning and Performance for the Western Victorian Primary Health Network.

Following this unexpected change in leadership and in accordance with the Terms of Reference (TOR), the current Vice-Chair, Johanna Hayes, Associate Program Director Community Services, Northern Health, will step up into the position of Acting Chair.  Correspondingly, a member of the Governance Group will be appointed to take on the role of Acting Vice-Chair, yet to be decided.  To minimise disruption, it is proposed that these acting positions remain in place until the annual nomination and voting process is conducted as scheduled in October/November 2018.  This proposal will be put to a vote at our next Member forum in February.

In lieu of the above changes, and in consideration of recent substantial growth in membership, we now call for two (2) additional organisational representatives to nominate for a position on the Governance Group.  As per the TOR, a nominee must hold a senior leadership position in their organisation with appropriate decision making authority and the necessary knowledge and experience required to adequately support the continued strategic development and activities of The Alliance.  As this is an unanticipated call for nominations occurring less than twelve months from the formation of our new governance structure, the general requirement of 12 months active membership is waived and all current member organisations are invited to nominate.

To ensure a broad representation of our membership, nominations are especially encouraged from smaller and diversity specific providers, not for profits and non-government organisations.  Don't miss this important opportunity to be an influencer at this significant time of change and reform and to contribute to a strong, collaborative and innovative aged services sector in the North Metro region.

To nominate, please complete the attached Nomination Form and email together with a short statement of no more than 150 words to support your nomination. For further information regarding the role of Governance Group members, please refer to the Terms of Reference or contact Christina Micallef, Regional Development Coordinator on 0477 398 294. Nominations close 5pm, Monday 29 January 2018.

All nominations will be collated and presented via email in advance to members for consideration one week prior to our upcoming forum on 20 February 2018.  At which time, final voting and acceptance will take place by those members present.

Again, warmth and gratitude to our outgoing Chair, Sam Sharp.  We wish you all the very best at this important next step in your career.
